Cocoa Otoko (ココア男。, Kokoa Otoko, Chocolate Men) was a Japanese rock group that was active between April 2010 and March 2012. The band consisted of five actors, namely Kenta Kamakari (lead vocals), Kei Hosogai (bass), Kousuke Yonehara (drums), Shogo Suzuki (guitar), and Takuya Ide (keyboard and rap).

History

Along with acting, the members of Cocoa Otoko made their first television appearance as a band on the long-running show Ikemen Deru no Hōsoku: Koi ni Kurushimu Handsome na Endō Mame-tachi (イケメンデルの法則 〜恋に苦しむハンサムなエンドウ豆たち〜). They released their debut single, "Amai Wana Nigai Uso..." (甘い罠 苦い嘘、、、), on April 15, 2010.[1]

The band's name was decided due to the members like of chocolates (ココア, Cocoa) and all of them are men (, Otoko).[1] At some point they began to write "Cocoa" using the characters for Heart and Love (心愛), giving their band name an extra meaning.

On December 5, 2011, the band announced that they would disband in March 2012, citing interest in other career paths.[2] In the presence of about 4000 fans and about 50.000 more watching the live stream on Niconico, they officially disbanded on March 31, 2012 after a live event that lasted for about 8 hours.
