Computo (Danielle Foccart), is a character appearing in media published by DC Comics, primarily as a member of the "Batch SW6" group of the Legion of Super-Heroes in the 30th century. She is the younger sister of Jacques Foccart, who joined the Legion as the second Invisible Kid.
Fictional character biography
[edit]Danielle is a native of Earth, from what was once the Ivory Coast. As a preteen, she was afflicted with a life-threatening neurological disorder that appeared to be untreatable. As a last resort, her older brother Jacques brought her to Brainiac 5, who rashly decided to utilize circuitry from the dismantled supercomputer Computo, which he had created years earlier.[1] Still surviving as an artificial intelligence, Computo possessed Danielle, taking control of Legion headquarters and Metropolis and nearly killing several Legionnaires. Subsequently, Jacques used Lyle Norg's invisibility serum to save Danielle and the others, becoming the second Invisible Kid. Although the A.I.'s control of Legion HQ was broken, it maintained possession of Danielle's body.[2] Brainiac 5 devoted most of his free time for at least a year to curing Danielle's disorder and exorcising Computo, eventually succeeding.[3]
"Five Years Later"
[edit]Many years later, during the "Five Year Gap" following the Magic Wars, Earth falls under the control of the Dominators and withdraws from the United Planets. As a result, Danielle joined a resistance againt them alongside Invisible Kid, Tyroc, and the former members of the Legion of Substitute Heroes. Soon thereafter, Danielle (now a teenager) became associated with the members of the Dominators' "Batch SW6", a group of temporal clones of the Legionnaires. By that time, Danielle had acquired the ability to communicate with and control computers by psionically interfacing with them.
After Earth is destroyed in a disaster reminiscent of the destruction of Krypton over a millennium earlier, a few dozen surviving cities and their inhabitants reconstitute their world as New Earth.[4] The SW6 incarnation of Computo becomes the leader of the batch under Cosmic Boy.[5]
Post-Infinite Crisis
[edit]The events of Infinite Crisis restored an analogue of the pre-Crisis Legion to continuity. Computo appears briefly when the Legion battles Superboy-Prime, the Time Trapper, and the Legion of Super-Villains.[6]
