Craig Gazey (born 24 February 1982)[1] is a British television actor, best known for his portrayal of Graeme Proctor in the ITV soap Coronation Street.

Education

Gazey attended Our Lady's R.C High School in Royton, in Oldham in 1993. His family still live in the surrounding area.

He attended Eggbuckland Community College up until 1998, when he attended City College Plymouth, studying a BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts. He then went on to study acting in Cardiff, attending the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, where he graduated in 2005

Career

In October 2011 he appeared at the Trafalgar Studios in the West End in a play called Third Floor. In 2012 he toured the UK in the comedy Funny Peculiar alongside Suzanne Shaw and former Coronation Street co-star Vicky Entwistle. In 2013 he appeared in a stage version of The Full Monty at Sheffield, followed by a tour and a season in the West End in 2014.

In October 2014 Gazey appeared in The Hypochondriac alongside Sir Tony Robinson and Imogen Stubbs at the Theatre Royal Bath, followed by a tour.[2]

In 2015, he took part in Celebrity Masterchef for the BBC.

Coronation Street

In 2008 Gazey joined the cast of Coronation Street. In 2009, he won an award for Best Newcomer at the Inside Soap Awards. In January 2010 he won an award for Best Newcomer at the National Television Awards. He also won the Best Comedy Performance award at the British Soap Awards in 2010.

During his time in the soap, Gazey made appearances on television as a guest on Loose Women and Celebrity Juice. He even appeared as Graeme in a special edition of The Jeremy Kyle Show alongside fellow cast members Jack P. Shepherd, Michelle Keegan and Ben Price.

In January 2011 Gazey announced he would be leaving Coronation Street as he missed working in the theatre. He said he will miss the cast and crew very much. Gazey filmed his final scenes in May 2011 but Graeme remained on-screen until June. Coronation Street producer Phil Collinson said that Gazey created a brilliant and memorable character and would like to see him return one day.
