History
Creditbank s.a.l was established in Lebanon in 1981 as Crédit Bancaire by Joseph Khalifé and Fouad Zoghby. The acquisition of Crédit Lyonnais s.a.l in 2002 prompted the bank to change its name to Creditbank s.a.l. In 2013, the bank finalized its acquisition of Armenia’s Anelik Bank CJSC and its subsidiary Anelik Russia.
Creditbank s.a.l is one of Lebanon’s fastest growing banks. Recording an average annual growth rate of some 20% for 7 years running, the bank’s total deposits in 2013 surpassed the $2 billion benchmark for which it was awarded Lebanon’s prestigious Alpha Bank status.[1] Creditbank s.a.l in 2013 also boasted Lebanon’s highest loans-to-deposits ratio at nearly 57%, while total assets by the end of the same year amounted to $2.6 billion.
With a shareholders’ equity over $279 million (as at 31/12/2015), the bank by 2015 had a network of 23 domestic branches spread across Lebanon, in addition to its subsidiary banks' 17 branches abroad. The total number of staff, both domestically and abroad, amounted to nearly 1,060.
Creditbank s.a.l offers a wide variety of products and services in the field of Retail, Investment, Corporate and SME Banking, while the bank enjoys a proud reputation as a front runner in terms of technological innovation. Some of the latest banking products it introduced include the Creditbank Contactless Sticker[2] and the Multi Currency Prepaid Card.[3]
The bank’s new identity
In 2012, Creditbank s.a.l redifined its corporate identity, as research had shown a gap between the bank’s image as perceived by existing and potential clients respectively. Inspired by the infinity symbol and the acronym ‘CB,’ the bank’s dynamic new logo captures the bank’s DNA in a more eloquent manner.
Creditbank’s new identity was reinforced by the revamped interior of its latest branches, which is distinctively different from other banks. Sodeco was the first branch to don the new look, which aims to better engage and interact with clients, followed by Verdun, Jbeil and Cornit Chehwan branches.
The new customer-centric approach boasts a spacious lounge area equipped with digital screens and reading material such as tablets, newspapers and magazines. A host at the entrance guides customers through the digital queuing system. A service desk offers further assistance and creates a division between the lounge and teller pods, which are fully private for large cash and foreign currency transactions and semi-private for regular banking operations.
