Criniger is a genus of songbird in the Pycnonotidae family. Established by Coenraad Jacob Temminck in 1820, it contains the following species:[1]
- Western bearded greenbul (Criniger barbatus)
- Red-tailed greenbul (Criniger calurus)
- Eastern bearded greenbul (Criniger chloronotus)
- White-bearded greenbul (Criniger ndussumensis)
- Yellow-bearded greenbul (Criniger olivaceus)
The name Criniger is Latin for "long-haired" (from crinis, meaning "hair" and gerere, meaning "to carry").[2]
