A dermatological procedure developed by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard, works by cooling fat cells by means of a platelike device. This in turn breaks them down via lipolysis. It has been suggested that this a quick alternative to liposuction, and as its non-invasive can be done without serious risks. The procedure is currently undergoing clinical trials, research using pigs and porcupines have shown positive results. Dr. David J. Goldberg, who is responsible for the research on this procedure describes it as non-invasive and promising.
