Daryl Corletto (born 24 August 1981) is an Australian-British professional basketball player who currently plays for the Plymouth Raiders of the British Basketball League (BBL) as a player/coach.

Basketball career

Melbourne Tigers

As a junior, Corletto played for the Werribee Devils, and in 1998, he was honoured with being chosen in the Under-18 All-Australian team. Then in 2000, he was chosen in the Under-22 squad.

In 2001, Corletto joined the Melbourne Tigers for the 2001–02 NBL season and proved to be a good pickup for them, as he played 11 games for them in his rookie season. However, in 2002–03, he managed just two games for the Tigers. In 2003–04, his role and playing time increased as he played in 27 games.[1]

Over the next two seasons, Corletto played in all 64 home and away games, as well as two finals games in 2004–05 and five finals games in 2005–06. The Tigers went on to win the NBL championship in 2006 and 2008.

New Zealand Breakers

In September 2011, Corletto parted ways with the Tigers following the signing of Patty Mills, and signed a one-year deal with the New Zealand Breakers.[2]

On 9 March 2012, Corletto re-signed with the Breakers on a two-year deal (with the option of a third).[3][4]

In November 2013, Corletto signed with the Super City Rangers for the 2014 New Zealand NBL season.[5][6]

On 4 June 2014, Corletto was released by the New Zealand Breakers.[7] Two days later, he was also released by the Super City Rangers per his request.[8]

Melbourne United

On 13 June 2014, Corletto signed with Melbourne United for the 2014–15 NBL season, returning to the club for a second stint.[9]

In 397 NBL games over 14 seasons, Corletto averaged 8.3 points and 1.3 rebounds, shooting 43.4% from the field, 36.7% from three-point range, and 85.1% from the free throw line.[1]

Plymouth Raiders

On 8 May 2015, Corletto signed with the Plymouth Raiders for the 2015–16 British Basketball League season.[10][11] After the Raiders went 0–3 to begin the season, the club named Corletto player/coach, replacing the outgoing Jay Marriott.[12]

Personal

In 2009, Corletto married Australian netballer Julie Prendergast.[13] Later that year, he was part of a training squad for the Great Britain men's national basketball team.[14]
