Dayrabun (Syriac: ܕܝܪ ܐܒܘܢܐ, Arabic: ديربون) is an Assyrian town in the Dohuk Governorate in Northern Iraq. The town lies just 7 km to the south east of the tripoint of Iraq, Syria and Turkey. Dayrabun is inhabited by Assyrians who mainly belong to Chaldean Catholic Church.
Etymology
The name of the town in Syriac means 'Monastery of the Priest" or literally; Monastery of our father. The name Dayr Abun is in the construct state.
