Dear Friend Hitler (Hindi: प्रिय मित्र हिटलर) is a 2011 multilingual Indian drama film based on letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to leader of Nazi Party and Chancellor of Germany Adolf Hitler. The film stars Raghubir Yadav as Adolf Hitler and Neha Dhupia as Eva Braun. The film is directed by debuting director Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and produced by Anil Kumar Sharma under the production house Amrapali media vision. It is a first Indian film which featured the life of Hitler or perhaps the first which has adapted a foreign subject.[1] [2][3]
Plot
The film centres around the letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to Adolf Hitler (Raghubir Yadav), and about the relationship of Hitler with his long-term lover Eva Braun (Neha Dhupia), who he married in his final days in the Berlin bunker. The film depicts the Hitlers' "love for India" and how the Nazi leader indirectly contributed to independence in the subcontinent. The Indian connections of Germany and Hitler are told through Gandhi’s beliefs and the Azad hind fauj who fought for the German army.

Criticism and controversies
The film was criticised by international media for its subject and its depiction of Hitlers' love for India and his support for Indian independence. British newspaper The Guardian declared the film profoundly misguided and a shocking ignorance of history, but the filmmakers claiming that film doesn't glorify Hitler, but juxtaposes him against Gandhi's ideology of peace.[4]
We clarified that the movie is not about Hitler's ideology, but how his ideology of violence conflicts with Gandhi's ideology of peace. There is no glorification of Hitler's character
