"Dogwalker" is a cyberpunk short story by Orson Scott Card. It appears in his short story collection Maps in a Mirror.

Plot summary

"Dogwalker" is the story of a man who cracks into a government database by logging in using a system administrator's password. He gets caught because he logged in correctly the first time while the administrator always deliberately failed his first log-in attempt and logged in correctly on his second try.
