Thomas Donald "Don" Karnes was the tenth head football coach for the Illinois State Redbirds in Normal, Illinois and he held that position for two seasons, from 1925 until 1926. His overall coaching record at ISU was 5 wins, 10 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 15th at ISU in terms of total wins and 15th at ISU in terms of winning percentage. [3]

In 1955, he immigrated to Brazil.
