Doom Asylum is a 1987 slasher movie. It was the first film role of Kristin Davis, who later went on to notably portray Charlotte York in the television series and film Sex and the City.
Plot
Mitch Hansen and his fiancée Carla get into a car wreck in which Carla is severely wounded and Mitch is killed. During Hansen's autopsy, he wakes up and kills the medical examiners. Ten years later, a group of friends have a picnic near the asylum where Hansen got held. A punk band is using the asylum to practice some songs. However, Hansen still inhabits the asylum and plans to go after any perceived intruders.
A lesbian couple, Rapunzel and Godiva, are attacked first when they have sex in the asylum. He axes both of them. Their friends, Spike, Talc, Shark and Red, arrive later. They pick a fight with a group of friends, Dennis, Darnell, Jane, twins Judy and Kiki, Mike, and Tina, who are picnicking near the asylum. While Spike, Talc and Red set up, Shark goes off to look for Rapunzel and Godiva. During the picnic, Tina and Darnell sneak into the asylum to have sex, but Shark finds them. Tina runs away in embarrassment, while Darnell confronts Shark. However, Hansen kills Shark and chases Darnell through the halls before finally beheading him. His screams are drowned out by the music.
Later, the friends become annoyed by the constant playing of the punk rock band, and walk to the asylum to complain, where Tina looks for Darnell. The band members and the friends get into a fistfight, which comes to a halt when Tina finds Darnell and Shark's bodies. Hansen then kills Dennis and Spike and chases the rest further into the asylum. Mike saves Judy and Kiki when they are cornered but himself is killed. Red and Jane try to barricade themselves in a room with Rapunzel's and Godiva's bodies, but Hansen smashes through, impales Red with a guitar, and electrocutes Jane with a speaker. Judy, Kiki, Tina and Talc meet up and attempt to escape out a window, but Hansen decapitates Tina, slams his axe into Judy's chest, and throws Kiki out the window.
It is then revealed that Talc's real name is Calvin Hansen, and he is Mitch's son. Calvin tells Mitch that Carla is still alive, and that their family could be reunited if Mitch left the asylum. Mitch ignores Calvin and chases him out of the asylum. However, when Calvin flees to the road, it is revealed that Kiki survived her fall and went for help. Desperate and insane, Mitch commits suicide by police. The police officer then takes Calvin and Kiki back to town. It is revealed in the closing scene that Calvin lied about the condition of Carla, as he is seen visiting her grave.
