Draft:Abdullah Snobar
Submission declined on 21 October 2024 by CoconutOctopus (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.

Abdullah Snobar
[edit]Abdullah Snobar is the Executive Director of DMZ at Toronto Metropolitan University and CEO of DMZ Ventures.[1]
Snobar's leadership has helped DMZ become a globally recognized startup incubator, helping over 1000 startups raise more than $2.69 billion in capital [2] [3]. Since joining DMZ in 2014, Snobar has overseen its expansion into a global network, with satellite locations in North America, Latin America, Africa, and Asia.[4] [2]
DMZ
[edit]As Executive Director, Snobar has spearheaded DMZ’s transformation from a co-working space to a top incubator, supporting startups with mentorship, capital, and connections. DMZ was ranked the number one incubator in North America by UBI Global and third in the world.[2][4] Under his tenure, startups at DMZ have created thousands of jobs and secured significant funding.[2]
DMZ Ventures
[edit]In 2020, Snobar became CEO of DMZ Ventures, the for-profit arm of DMZ, which focuses on scaling high-growth startups. DMZ Ventures’ investment fund, launched in 2024, will make up to 10 investments per year, ranging from $100,000 to $250,000 CAD. The fund will support promising pre-seed and seed-stage startups, primarily from DMZ’s portfolio, and is strongly focused on backing underserved founders.[5][6]
Thought Leadership
[edit]Snobar has frequently spoken on the importance of innovation and productivity, especially in relation to Canada's economic development. He emphasizes the need for Canadians to take a more aggressive stance in promoting their talents and capabilities on the global stage, arguing that the country’s humility may hinder its potential for innovation.[4]
