The Aluminium Medal is an unofficial award created for the 2024 Summer Olympic Games, awarded to Australian Olympic athletes who defeated a Canadian competitor at the Games, regardless of their final standings in their event. Created as part of a publicity stunt for Australian whisky brand Coastal Stone, the Aluminium Medal was designed to symbolize spirited competition and Australian victory, bringing a national beverage rivalry between Coastal Stone and Canadian Club to world's largest sporting competition.

Production and Design

The Aluminium Medal is created from the crushed remains of a 375 ml aluminium can of Canadian Club Whisky & Dry. While each medal varies in its shape, all Aluminium Medals were produced to conform to the International Olympic Committee set rules on the physical properties of medals. Specifically:

Shape: Usually circular, featuring an attachment for a chain or ribbon
Diameter: A minimum of 60 mm
Thickness: A minimum of 3 mm
