Andrew Mellen (September 11 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American author[1] who penned the well-known books Unstuff Your Life!, The Most Organized Man in America’s Guide to Moving, and Calling Bullsh*t on Busy.[2] He is most well known as a media personality who specializes in decluttering one's life[3] by using less 'stuff' or 'things' in your home or surroundings.[4] Additionally, Mellen often appears on mainstream media outlets touting his methods of reducing the steps needed to 'get things done' in life - which landed him deals working with the NY Mets, Genentech, NetApp, American Express, Goldman Sachs, the US Departments of Education and Homeland Security, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.[5]

Early Life

Mellen grew up in the Detroit, Michigan area and earned a degree from Northern Michigan University. He began his career living on a school bus performing improvisational theater in prisons.Then worked 20 years in the theater, from acting to directing, and then running several organizations. He then went on to co-producing an awards ceremony at The Kennedy Center. He was also a regular performer at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater.[6]
