[edit]

Matthew Joines was born on 27 May 2006 in New Zealand.[2]

Career

[edit]

Asteria's old name used to be Crayola (stylized in all lowercase), however he changed it for unknown reasons. In 2021, Asteria's career would start as he would mix beats for other people.[2] In 2022, he released his first song "Paranoid" when he was 13 years old. In 2023, Asteria started working with a Polish artist Kets4eki and would go on to make multiple songs with him.[3]

On December 1, 2023, Asteria released "What You Want". The song became his first to chart when it debuted at number 45 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart in February 2024, reaching number 37.[4] "Eyes on Me" released on March 6, 2024, was his second charting song, finally reaching number 42.[5]

On June 5, 2024, Asteria released "Tell Me Lies" featuring Odetari, who is also a member of the same Artist Partner Group.[6]

Artistry

[edit]

Asteria's music has been described as sigilkore and scenecore. He has called the internet music and anarchy inspirations for his music.[7]
