in 1198 Baha al-Din Sam II seized balkh from Qara Khitai and read a Friday sermon in name of Ghurid sultan Ghiyath al-Din Muhammad[1], in response Yelü Zhilugu dispacthed a large army under Tayanguh (a military advisor)[2] they came to Ghurids land such as kurzaban, saraqan and the like in the winter in April 1198.[3][4]
