Carthyst is a musical duo from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Initially a solo act, frontman Kainon Carthyst (Kainon Kincaid) began creating genre-bending metal music in mid-2020 with a few singles. It wasn't until 2024 that Kainon's young son, known only as Toast, joined.

Starting in 2020, Carthyst independently released singles "Ran Away", "Take Back Halloween", "Villain", and later "Dextrocardia," before releasing their debut album "Basement" in December of 2023. It wasn't until the following year that Toast would join with the release of their six-song EP entitled "Forgotten EP" (2024).
