The Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission (CARC) is the governmental body responsible for regulating civil aviation activities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. Established in 2007, CARC oversees aviation safety, security, environmental compliance, and economic regulations in line with international standards.[1]

History

CARC was established on August 1, 2007, under the Jordanian Civil Aviation Law No. 41 of 2007, taking over the functions of the former Civil Aviation Authority. It operates as an independent legal entity with financial and administrative autonomy.[2]

Responsibilities

According to Article 7 of the Civil Aviation Law, CARC's responsibilities include:[3]

  • Regulating civil aviation safety, security, and economic and environmental activities.
  • Licensing operators in the civil aviation sector.
  • Representing Jordan in international aviation organizations, including ICAO.
  • Implementing environmental policies related to aviation noise and emissions.
  • Developing aviation infrastructure and services in Jordan.
