Raghogarh in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh is the gateway of Malwa and Chambal. Raja Dhiraj Singh was the son of Raja Lal Singh. Raja Lal Singh was the founder of Raghogarh. They were members of the Kichi clan of Chauhan Rajput. In this portrait painting, Raja Dhiraj Singh of Reghogarh is shown riding a white horse in a green field. He is shown by wearing a green jama and turban decorated with floral motifs along with saffron patka or waistband. A small attendant carrying a fly whisk is shown moving forward in front of Raja Dhiraj Singh at the left corner. Raja Dhiraj Singh was a great patron of music and painting. He also built several temples.
