Gizem Gözde Uçar (6 June 1990) is a Turkish children's book author and illustrator.
Early life and education
[edit]Born and raised in İstanbul, Uçar graduated from Koç University in 2013 with degrees in Comparative Literature and International relations.
Career
[edit]After three years working as an editor, she pursued her passion for drawing and writing.[1]
Her first book, Kara Tina, was published by Altın Kitaplar in 2021. Her second book, Aklımda Bir Şey Var!, was published by Yapı Kredi Yayınları in 2024. Her works have been exhibited in various exhibitions and festivals, including those in Istanbul, London,[2] Manchester,[3] Athens, Belgrade, Singapore,[4] and Skopje.[5]
In 2023, her works were showcased at a conference organized by the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators at Manchester Metropolitan University.[3]
In 2024, she was a guest artist at Litera, children's literature festival in North Macedonia, where her works were exhibited at the Skopje Youth Cultural Center. During the three-day festival, she held a masterclass for university students, hosted an interactive workshop, and held an interactive reading session from her book Aklımda Bir Şey Var! with children.[6]
In 2024, illustrations from her latest book Aklımda Bir Şey Var! were selected to be exhibited at the Asian Festival of Children's Content.[4]
She continues her artistic and professional life in London, writing and illustrating children's books, organizing children's workshops.[7]
