House of Kvekić is one of the wealthiest Serbian merchant and ship-owning families from Herceg Novi. Grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle's grandfather are recorded in Herceg Novi as the first Serbian ship owners and captains before Peraštan. They spread the business in Rijeka (then under Austrian Empire, Venice, Petrograd, Odessa... Darinka Kvekić was born in her parents' palace in Venice. She also studied in Paris, where the Kvekić family had their own castle, where the young Prince Nikola stayed as a student. A highly educated lady, intellectual, polyglot of 3.4 languages, gentlemanly and mannered (it can also be seen through the eyes of an artist). One of the most visible young ladies in Europe when Danilo was about to marry. Her and Danilo's love was strong, sincere and mutual. After the murder of Danilo, she stayed in Cetinje with her daughter Olga, Nikola built a separate building for them near the court. After the Great War, all that was deliberately erased.
