Submission declined on 4 December 2024 by Bobby Cohn (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Isaiah Grays
[edit]Isaiah Grays is a freshman at George Mason University, having recently graduated from Grand Blanc High School in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Known for his leadership and advocacy, he has been a prominent figure in both local and global initiatives.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Grays's impact on his school community was undeniable. He served as the Student Government Association (SGA) President from August 2023 to May 2024 and was a dedicated representative to the Board of Education during the 2022-2023 school year. His involvement in these roles highlighted his deep commitment to his peers and to the betterment of his community.
Leadership and Advocacy
[edit]In 2023, Grays's leadership extended beyond his school. He was selected for the 4th Cohort of the United States Youth Advisory Council to the United Nations Ocean Decade. Through this role, he collaborated with youth leaders nationwide to tackle global ocean conservation challenges, partnering with the organization Heirs to Our Ocean.
Isaiah’s influence also extended to his school spirit when he was crowned Homecoming King in 2023 at Grand Blanc High School, an honor that demonstrated his connection with and leadership among his peers.
Conference on National Affairs
[edit]In addition to his international advocacy, Grays represented Michigan at the 57th Annual Conference on National Affairs in Black Mountain, North Carolina. There, he was selected as an Alternate Presiding Officer for the Michigan delegation and recognized as one of the conference’s Outstanding Statesmen. His proposal, which advanced through multiple stages, ultimately passed with overwhelming support in the Plenary session, contributing to Michigan's high ranking as a delegation.
Advocacy on Gun Violence
[edit]Isaiah also played an instrumental role in the conversation surrounding gun violence, participating as a panelist in the Breaking the Silence of Gun Violence discussion. Alongside experts like Jon Gold of GIFFORDS, Dr. Kent Key of Flint Public Health Youth Academy, and Tamara Tucker of Moms Demand Action, he addressed critical issues and worked towards creating actionable solutions to reduce gun violence in communities.
Future Plans
[edit]Now a freshman at George Mason University, Grays is pursuing studies in Government and International Politics, continuing his commitment to advocating for change and shaping policies on a global scale.
Recognition
[edit]In October 2023, Grays was named to the 4th Cohort United States Youth Advisory Council to the United Nations Ocean Decade, a nationwide non-profit organization. They collaborate to create solutions for ocean-related issues and present them to policymakers in Washington, D.C. Grays was recommended for this role by his Model UN advisor, Patrice Bedford. He was also selected as 2023 Homecoming King at GBHS.
