Biography
[edit]Jillian Skye Jewett (born July 30, 1999) is an American singer, songwriter and visionary, who is known for her work as a musician, writer, performer, actress, and fashion model. Born and raised in Suffolk County, New York, she continues to reside there to this day.
Family
[edit]Jillian Skye was raised in a very musically inclined family. Her father, Ronald Jewett, is a versatile singer influenced by artists such as Michael Bublé and George Strait. Her mother, Diane Jewett, is an artist and designer with a love for music, particularly Aerosmith. Skye has a sister, Olivia Rae, who is a notable figure in the fitness community, sponsored by globally recognized brands like Alani Nu and NVGTN. In addition, she has established her own growing social media presence. On her mother’s side, her grandmother, Pamela Parrinello, was an accomplished Italian pianist who performed at Carnegie Hall. Her cousin, Richelle Pamela Fassler, is also a professionally trained pianist.
Early Life
[edit]Skye began taking piano lessons at age 7 and wrote her first lyrics in 2nd grade. She began sharing her singing talent with friends and family around age 11 and began posting videos on the video-streaming Keek app. For a few years, she pursued formal music training with Phoebe Yee from Juilliard and had her first vocal recital at Steinway Hall in 2014.
Musical Influences
[edit]Skye’s music is influenced by a diverse range of artists including John Lennon, Elvis Presley and modern talents like Lord Huron, JVKE, Stephen Sanchez, Justin Bieber and Joji. Her music taste blends elements of jazz fusion, synth-wave, electronic, indie, alternative R&B, and pop. However, Jillian has stated in multiple Q&A sessions on her TikTok live streams that she does not like to limit her artistry to one specific genre.
Professional Experience
[edit]From 2017-2018, Skye studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and The Actors Workshop in Levittown, New York. She performed some of her unreleased original music at The Aloha Lounge’s Christmas Bash Event in 2018. In 2019 she continued her education at Five Towns College, known for its celebrated alumni of well-respected musicians like Jon Bellion and Adam Levine (Maroon 5). Jillian studied Jazz Commercial Music Performance and minored in Business there. During this period, Skye released her first song on Soundcloud, a spinoff of XXXTentacion's interlude, Dead Inside, recorded with Corwin Griffith. From 2019 to 2022, Skye worked closely with sound engineer and musical composer Trevor Deblase, who has collaborated with notable artists in the music industry, including Flatbush Zombies and Joey Bada$$. Together, Skye and Deblase worked on three of her officially released songs, as well as several unreleased projects. Her 2020 single 'Ozone,' along with subsequent releases such as 'Alive' and 'Don’t Wanna B Urs,' garnered attention for their emotional depth and versatility. Jillian continued pursuing her music career both in the studio and at live venues, performing solo at Tin Roof in Delray Beach, Florida in 2022. Later that year, national anthem singer, musician, and worship leader Jonathan Wibben, mainly known for his performances with the NHL's New York Islanders at UBS Arena for the 2022-2023 season and the MLB's New York Mets, accompanied Jillian in several live gigs at various well known and high reputable hotspots all across Long Island, NY. She then was invited to perform weekly at Coho Coffee House in Patchogue, NY where she pleasantly contributed to the jazz-like atmosphere, singing several sets of different songs, joined by the acoustics of musician Sammy Nino. Around that summer she dropped her newest single Lately with Davon Young at Brewery Recording Studio, home of star artists like Skrillex, Kid Cudi, Jhene Aiko, Kehlani and more.
Alongside her musical pursuits, Skye also dedicated herself to professionalism in the modeling industry during these years. She served as a model for the high-end fashion boutique Penny Lane in New York from 2022 to 2023, owned by Gaby Sunshine. Additionally, she featured in various advertisements, including campaigns for the renowned cream liqueur Rumchata, the popular surf brand Billabong, Naut & Chain, Tilly’s, Strain Stars, and several others.
Recent Projects
[edit]In early 2024, Skye released two poetic projects, Reflections, and A New Earth, showcasing her exploration of raw human experience. She plans to integrate these poems into musical compositions.
