Kin Insurance is a Chicago-based insurance technology company that underwrites and provides residential property insurance directly to consumers.
History and operations[edit]
Kin was founded in 2016 by CEO Sean Harper[1] and CTO Lucas Ward.[2][3][4]
The company sells homeowners insurance directly to consumers online.[1] Kin provides insurance in seven U.S. states that are prone to natural disasters like hurricanes, floods and wildfires.[1][3]
Kin insures primary residences, vacation homes, condos, mobile homes, and landlords who rent out long-term or short-term properties.[3]
In early 2022, Kin bought an inactive insurance carrier licensed to operate in 43 states.[1]
