The Lewis & Clark Explorer was a train line that ran between Portland, Oregon and Astoria, Oregon. The Lewis & Clark explorer began service in March 2003.[1], and ran until October 2005[2], when it ceased operation due to a lack of funding. The line was created in time for the Lewis & Clark bicentennial in 2004. Trains departed from the Linnton station in Portland at 7:30 a.m. and left Astoria the same evening at 4:30 p.m.[3]
Operations
[edit]The Lewis & Clark Explorer used Budd Rail Diesel Cars and was operated by Portland & Western Railroad under contract with the Oregon Department of Transportation[4]
