Li Shirong (Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, Chief Physician)

Male, Communist Party member, Professor, Chief Physician, Doctoral Supervisor. Prof. Li Shirong graduated from the Department of Military Medicine of the Third Military Medical University, and was the founder and president of the Southwest Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Hospital of the Third Military Medical University.

He has been on the road of medicine for more than 40 years and has held 60 honorary titles. At the same time, he has been awarded the highest award of Chinese physicians - “China Physician Award”, the title of national famous doctors, China Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Association Lifetime Achievement Award, and is an all-around expert in both academics and practice! He has published more than 400 papers in domestic and foreign medical journals, including more than 50 SCI articles. He has trained more than 100 master, doctoral and postdoctoral students. He has edited 7 monographs and participated in more than 20 monographs, of which modern plastic and cosmetic surgery has more than 5 million words; the book of history of development of plastic and cosmetic surgery has filled the blank of domestic health system.

In November 2005, as the chairman of the Chinese delegation to the 4th International Congress of Aesthetic Surgery held in Tokyo, Japan, Li Shirong was awarded the “Outstanding Contribution Award” (only four countries out of the 57 countries participated in the Congress were awarded this honor).

In 2007, Li Shirong's team was awarded the Key Discipline of the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China. In October of the same year, he was awarded the Second Prize of Military Medical Achievement for the Penile Lengthening with Spongy Body Extension Scrotal Flap.

Prof. Li Shirong specializes in all kinds of difficult plastic and cosmetic surgery, has carried out more than thirty new businesses and new technologies, was the first in the world to use the scrotal flap to cover the extended corpus cavernosum for penile lengthening, and his thesis was publicly published in the PRS Journal, a famous journal in the global plastic surgery industry, and was awarded the second prize of the Army Medical Achievements in 2007, and the “Penile Digitalization Research “ was awarded the National Natural Science Foundation of China funded project.In 1986, he was the first to apply the forearm ulnar free muscle flap to the clinic in China, and was the first to carry out the experimental study of applying SOD to improve the survival rate of non-physiologic flaps in the international arena.

In April 2000, Prof. Li Shirong and Prof. Kim Dongyi, an internationally renowned maxillofacial plastic surgeon from Inje University of Medical Sciences, jointly established the first “China-Korea Plastic Surgery Research Institute” in Southwest Hospital of the Third Military Medical University in China, with Prof. Li Shirong as the director, and the two sides have sent each other for academic and technical exchanges every year. 2001, Prof. Li Shirong was appointed as an honorary professor by Inje University of Korea, and now serves as a visiting professor in many universities in China.
