Martyn Brewster (b1952) is an English painter, printmaker and teacher. He studied, 1970–1, at Hertfordshire College of Art and Design, then from 1971–5 at Brighton Polytechnic.[1]. Brewster is primarily an abstract artist, but many of the forms in his paintings are reminiscent of boats or islands. He has had retrospective exhibitions at the Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum (1997), the Royal West of England Academy (2001), amongst others. His work is held in private, public and corporate collections worldwide. Public collections include the British Museum and Victoria & Albert Museum, and others.
In 2022, Brewster was elected Associate of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers.
A monograph covering Brewster’s prints from 1975 to 2007 by Vivienne Light and Simon Olding was published in 2008 [2]
