Mrityunjay Thakur (Mrityunjay Kumar Thakur) Born in 1968 in a small but culturally rich town of Motihari (East Champaran) situated in the north eastern part of Bihar. Champaran is also known for the Satyagrah movement of Gandhiji. Being born in a village, seeing illiteracy, abject poverty from close quarters, gave him a rare insight into human beings and and a sharp understanding about the socio-economics and politics of India. The fact that his father, when he was 17, was the security officer of Subhash Chandra Bose(during his Champaran visit) the great popular political leader of colonial India helped him to make up his mind. This has shaped his inclination and he has always tried to give a voice to the marginal, the oppressed and the weak ordinary souls. he is a senior broadcast journalist with a sharp intellect and a clear understanding of socio-economic situation and a sensitive gaze Mrityunjay is different from other Journalists. He is a poet, a sensibility which brings in his viewing a lyrical quality and gives him an edge over others. He is sharp, witty and has a brilliant sense of humour which reflects in his reportage and analysis. He has covered from bloody caste struggles to violent elections in the state reaching to the unreachable pockets. This endeavour has given him a rare access to remote areas and marginal communities. He is having an experience of more than 300 hrs. visual coverage in his electronic journalism carrier.
