There are over 2000 public parks in the City of Johannesburg. All of the parks are overseen and maintained by the Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo.[1]
History
[edit]In January 2013, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) merged to form an entity that is mandated by the City of Johannesburg to manage the city's parks, designated public open spaces and cemeteries. JCPZ also carries out the city's environmental conservation function. The function includes the maintenance of all street and park trees within the city's borders and the Johannesburg Zoo.[2]
Notable public parks
[edit]Some of the notable park in Johannesburg include the Zoo Lake, Johannesburg Botanical Gardens, Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, Florida Park and Rhodes Park, among others.
