Radofin was an Original equipment manufacturer of radios, calculators, and home video game systems.
History[edit]
Early years[1][edit]
The company that eventually became Radofin was founded by Laurence H. Scott, Sr. in 1954. Scott was the first person to import and sell Sony radios in the United States. In 1956, seeking a better deal, Scott worked with other manufacturers such as Akai to import and sell their components under localized brands, and eventually opened up a second radio factory in Hong Kong.
In 1962, health issues forced Scott to move to Rome, Italy to recuperate. Within a year he had recovered well enough to continue operations, and established a holding company in Lichtenstein, Radofin Ets. for the purpose of financing his radio import business, in fact, the company name is a portmanteau of the words radio and finance.
