The Rascals incident was a police raid on the Rascals disco on Beach Road, Singapore on 30 May 1993 during its weekly gay night event.

Legacy

George Baylon Radics, a senior lecturer at the National University of Singapore, wrote that the incident was "one of the first instances of direct engagement between the homosexual community and the state in an era of frequent police raidson gay bars", and that it "provided hope to the nascent community of gay organizers that they could negotiate with the government to begin to recognize their rights, and as a result, began to engage in community education, forums, and other community building activities." According to Professor of Law Lynette J. Chua, some "hail Rascals as Singapore's Stonewall, crediting the raid for galvanizing a fledgeling gay movement that was quietly taking shape in the early 1990s in Singapore."
