Revolution in Motion is the ninth studio album by the Philadelphia-based jam band The Disco Biscuits. It was released on March 29, 2024 on LP, CD, and all major streaming services.[1] The album is a rock opera comprised of fourteen linked songs that tell the story of an attack on Earth by the Polyfuzians, a race of intergalactic explorers. The album was produced by the electronic music artist Derek Van Scoten.
Background
[edit]Revolution in Motion was originally conceived of by long-time Disco Biscuits associate Joey Friedman during the band's two-night stand at Northlands, an outdoor venue in Swanzey, NH. Following the shows, Friedman pitched Disco Biscuits guitarist and chief songwriter Jon "The Barber" Gutwillig the idea of a rock opera in which the band itself would appear as characters. Songwriting commenced shortly thereafter, with Gutwillig and Friedman completing their first demos in March of 2022.[2]
Story
[edit]Revolution in Motion opens with a crew of Polyfuzians explorers traveling through the galaxy on a spacecraft named the JP-8000. The captain of this vessel, the wayward son of Polyfuzia's Queen, has been tasked with the mission of finding, collecting, and retrieving alien life forms.

Podcast
[edit]Friedman, Gutwillig, and Van Scoten joined Max Dawson for a five-part interview about the album's creation on Touchdowns All Day, the Disco Biscuits' official podcast.[4]
