Shivajirao Ganesh Patwardhan also known as Dajisaheb was born in Assangi of Jamkhand District of Karnatak on 28 December 1892.He took his early education in Pune and higher education in Kolkata in homeopathy. He was influenced by Lokmanya Tilak, Gopal Ganesh Agarkar etc. He contributed to freedom struggle of India and established rehabilitation centre for leprosy patients once they were cured. In 1956 he was awarded the Padma Shri.
