The Amityville Murders is a 2018 American horror film, directed, written, and produced by Daniel Farrands.

The film premiered on the Screamfest Film Festival on October 9, 2018, and was released in the United States on February 8, 2019, to generally negative reviews.

Synopsis

On the night of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. took a high-powered rifle and murdered his entire family as they slept. At his trial, DeFeo claimed that "voices" in the house commanded him to kill.

Release

The film premiered at the Screamfest Film Festival on October 9, 2018.[2][3] On December 28, 2023, Skyline Entertainment picked up distribution rights to the film, and released it to limited theaters, VOD, and digital on February 8, 2019.[4]

Reception

The film received generally negative reviews. On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 0% of 15 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 3.5/10.[5] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 35 out of 100, based on 4 critics, indicating "generally unfavorable" reviews.[6]
