"The Sidemen Story" is a Netflix documentary that premiered on February 14, 2024. It provides an in-depth look at the evolution and impact of the Sidemen, a group of British YouTubers active over the past decade. The Sidemen, consisting of KSI, Simon "Miniminter" Minter, Josh "Zerkaa" Bradley, Harry "W2S" Lewis, Vikram "Vikkstar123" Barn, Ethan "Behzinga" Payne, and Tobi "TBJZL" Brown, produce content ranging from gaming and challenges to lifestyle and vlogs.
Directed by Luke Hyams, a former Head of Originals for YouTube EMEA, the documentary discusses the group's journey from their beginnings to their current status as YouTube icons. The film explores the Sidemen's formation, their rise to fame, and their expansion into various business ventures. It delves into the personal and professional lives of the members over more than a decade.
The Sidemen initially came together as a group of friends who shared a passion for gaming. They began uploading content on YouTube, which quickly resonated with a wide audience, propelling them to stardom. Their collective YouTube channel now has over 20 million subscribers, and they have branched out into other ventures. These include the launch of their vodka brand XIX, the opening of multiple 'Sides' restaurant locations, and organizing charity football matches.
The documentary also goes over the personal struggles and triumphs of each member. It covers significant milestones in their careers, such as KSI's boxing matches and their collaborative project with Logan Paul, Prime Hydration. Additionally, it highlights their philanthropic efforts, including their charity football matches, the latest of which raised £2.4 million.
"The Sidemen Story" is produced by Sunita Mirchandani Hyams through Pangaea, with Arcade Media, the firm behind the Sidemen's brand, also involved in the project.
