Thomas Welsh (born 7 December 2003) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Dundee. He has previously played for Downfield, Tayport and Civil Service Strollers on loan, as well as with Arbroath on two separate emergency loan spells.[1]

Career[edit]

A youth product of Dundee, Welsh joined Midlands League side Downfield on loan in January 2022.[2] However, Welsh would be recalled early in March due to injuries to Dundee keepers Adam Legzdins and Ian Lawlor, and Welsh would sit on the bench behind Harrison Sharp for the Dark Blues in a Scottish Premiership game against Motherwell, as well as for the next few weeks.[3]

In October 2022, Welsh would go back out on loan to the Midlands League, this time to Fife club Tayport, with manager Daryl McKenzie stating that Welsh was "one I've had my eye on from as soon as I came into the club".[4]

On 4 August 2023, Welsh joined Scottish Championship club Arbroath on a week-long emergency loan as the Lichties' back-up keeper Ali Adams was suspended for their first league game at home to Dundee United.[5] On 13 January 2024, Welsh would join Arbroath again on another week-long emergency loan following an injury to starting keeper Derek Gaston, and was an unused substitute in the league draw against Ayr United.[6]

In February 2024, Welsh joined Lowland League club Civil Service Strollers on loan until the end of the season, and made his debut the same day in the league against Cumbernauld Colts, keeping a clean sheet.[7]
