The Valhalla Fund is a 501c3 non-profit corporation dedicated to providing support and resources to individuals and families impacted by pulmonary fibrosis with an Employer Identification Number (EIN) of 92-1700871. Founded in 2023, the organization's mission is to improve the quality of life for those affected by the debilitating lung disease through a combination of services, fundraising, and advocacy. The Valhalla Fund, similarly to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation,[1] aims to raise awareness and donations for the disease. The Valhalla Fund relies on donations, sponsors, and fundraising events to raise money towards pulmonary fibrosis.
Services
[edit]One of the primary services offered by the Valhalla Fund is conducting boating tours with the objective of raising donations to support efforts in combating pulmonary fibrosis called "Valhalla Vessels". These tours offers transportation services throughout the Puget Sound[2], such as from the marinas in Anacortes, Everett, Edmonds, Elliott Bay, Tacoma, and Olympia. The Valhalla fund provides individuals with opportunities to explore the Puget Sound with tours of the coastline, fishing excursions, or the transportation of goods. In addition, they aim to provide participants with the opportunity to contribute to the cause. By organizing boating tours as a fundraising service, the Valhalla Fund aims to engage the community in philanthropic activities that promote both recreational enjoyment and support for individuals and families affected by pulmonary fibrosis. The funds raised through these tours are instrumental in furthering donations towards addressing the challenges associated with pulmonary fibrosis.
The Scooter Iceland project was another fundraising initiative undertaken from August 1st to August 20th, 2023. The objective of this project was to traverse approximately 3,000 miles around the coast of Iceland using scooters, raising awareness and funds for pulmonary fibrosis research through the Valhalla Fund. The Scooter Iceland project was supported by several sponsors, including Hayworth[3], 66 North[4], Go Car Rental, Armstrong Community Outreach Foundation[5], DHL[6], and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
Mission
[edit]The Valhalla Fund's core mission is to collect donations through fundraising activities and services provided to aid in financial support for research and development focused on addressing pulmonary fibrosis, a condition characterized by irreversible scarring of the lungs.[7] The allocation of funds is intended to contribute to the advancement of scientific understanding, innovative treatment options, and enhanced care practices for individuals grappling with the challenges posed by pulmonary fibrosis. Every donation received is committed to supporting research on pulmonary fibrosis[8],a serious lung disease that scars the air sacs in the lungs, making it progressively harder to breathe. The organization emphasizes transparency and integrity in its financial practices. Donations made to The Valhalla Fund are 100% tax-deductible, with the entirety of each contribution channeled directly into Pulmonary Fibrosis research endeavors.[9]
