Velo3D is an American metal additive manufacturing company founded in 2014 by Benny Buller.[1] The company is headquartered in Campbell, California and focuses on producing high-performance metal parts using its proprietary Sapphire 3D printing technology.[2] The company is listed on the NYSE with the symbol VLD.[3][4]
History
[edit]Velo3D was founded in 2014 by Benny Buller, a former executive at Applied Materials.[1][5] Buller started the company to develop a new metal additive manufacturing technology.[6]
In December 2023, Buller stepped down as the company's CEO.[7]
In 2018, Velo3D launched its Sapphire 3D printing technology, which uses a laser-based powder bed fusion process that enables the production of metal parts.[8][9][10]
Partnerships
[edit]In 2021, the company announced a partnership with aerospace company Boom Supersonic to produce 3D-printed metal parts for its supersonic aircraft.[11][12][13]
In 2020, Velo3D partnered with Honeywell Aerospace to develop new applications for use in the aerospace industry.[14][15][16][17]
