Abdul Aziz Musigazi, professionally known as Vyroota, is an Ugandan singer recognized for his contributions to the Afrobeats and R&B genres. [1][2][3] Vyroota gained widespread popularity shortly after his debut in 2020, quickly achieving chart success and gaining a strong fanbase in Uganda. His active presence on social media, particularly on platforms like TikTok, has significantly boosted his visibility and audience engagement. Vyroota’s prominence on Tik Tok led to his recognition as one of the top ten Ugandan artists on the platform.

Early Life

[edit]

Vyroota was born in Kireka, a locality within the Wakiso District of Uganda. He spent his formative years in this area, attending school from kindergarten through high school.

Relationships

[edit]

Vyroota maintains a private approach to his personal relationships, preferring to keep his dating life away from public scrutiny. He has expressed that he avoids sharing details about his relationships due to potential judgment and gossip, which he finds intolerable. In January 2024, rumors circulated that he was romantically involved with fellow Ugandan artist Jowy Landa. However, Landa later clarified that she could not date Vyroota due to personal reasons. [4]

Career

[edit]

Vyroota is known for his impressive vocal strength, distinctive style, and creative approach to music, which many find remarkable for an artist of only 19 years. Born in May 2004 and raised in the slums of Kireka by a single mother, Vyroota began singing in 2012 but did not release his first record until September 2021, when he launched his debut album, My Love. While the album initially received limited attention, it established him as an emerging artist. His subsequent release, Ammala, in 2021 became a significant hit on TikTok, marking his entry into mainstream popularity. By 2023, Vyroota was recognized as one of Uganda’s fast-rising young artists, securing the second position on the year’s list of prominent new talents. [5]

Education

[edit]

In an interview with Kalela on Sanyuka TV’s SanyukaTunyuke show, Vyroota disclosed that he completed his Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) during the COVID-19 period. This marked the end of his formal education, as he did not return to complete the advanced level. After finishing his senior four, he began pursuing music professionally, leading to the release of his breakthrough song Ammala, produced by Aban Beats. Since then, Vyroota has continued to build momentum, gaining recognition as one of the most promising rising stars of the past year with notable tracks such as Risk and the popular collaboration Ex Twafuna with Ava Peace. [6] Vyroota attended school in Wakiso, where he completed primary education and the ordinary level, earning his Uganda Certificate of Education before deciding to leave formal schooling to focus on his music career. [7]

Discography

[edit]

Vyroota’s discography stands out among Uganda’s emerging artists, as he has primarily promoted his music independently, with most of his hit songs being solo projects. As of now, Vyroota has released no albums or EPs but has a total of 19 singles. In January 2024, Vyroota stated that the only female artist he aspired to collaborate with was Chosen Becky.[8] Vyroota also mentioned in media appearances that he originally wrote his popular song Mistake for artist Nina Roz. However, due to her lack of interest, he decided to record the song himself, which subsequently gained significant popularity in Uganda.
