Duets (Dizzy Gillespie album)

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Smorrison01 (talk | contribs) at 13:58, 4 June 2018 (→‎Track listing: - removed the following text from the line crediting Gillespie as composer: "although 'Con Alma' uses the chords of 'All the Things you are' by Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein". This statement about the two compositions sharing chord changes is incorrect; knowledge of common jazz repertoire confirms this, and (though published jazz leadsheets are often insufficient/inaccurate) evidence from published sheet music would be clear in this case too.). Duets is an album by trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie featuring Sonny Rollins and Sonny Stitt recorded in 1957 and released on the Verve label. The recordings on this album are from the same sessions and with the same personnel that produced the earlier released Sonny Side Up album which had Sonny Stitt and Sonny Rollins playing simultaneously with Dizzy Gillespie. On the Duets album, as the name implies, Sonny Stitt and Sonny Rollins played separately with Dizzy Gillespie.[2]
