Ecomechanics
Ecomechanics is a scientific discipline studying the mechanisms underlying organisms' interactions with their environment. It incorporates elements of ecology and comparative physiology, and was spawned as an outgrowth of biomechanics.[1]
The term was originally coined by Dr. Mimi Koehl[citation needed]. The field gained its own recognition as the result of a working group at Friday Harbor Laboratories on September 2009[citation needed].
