Education in Marshall, Texas in secondary and primary education is almost entirely conducted by the Marshall Independent School District, with over 6,000 students at twelve campuses. In addition to Marshall, the district serves the cities of Nesbitt and Scottsville as well as the community of Woodlawn.

A private institution, Trinity Episcopal School also exists and some parents choose to homeschool. Institutions of higher learning include, East Texas Baptist University and Wiley College, and campuses of Texas State Technical College and Panola College; all of which offer programs for high-schoolers as well as under graduates. ETBU is the largest school.

The school district was rated Academically Acceptable in the 2009 TEA accountability rating.[1]
