Electro-diesel multiple unit

An electro-diesel multiple unit is a form of passenger rail car powered either by an external electricity supply (like an electric multiple unit) or by using the on-board diesel engine (like a diesel-electric multiple unit); usually is called BMU (Bi-Mode/Bimodal Multiple Unit).

Examples include the Bombardier B 82500, some of the Stadler FLIRT (BTR 813,^[1] British Rail Class 755^[2]^[3]), British Rail Class 800 and the British Rail Class 802 by Hitachi.
