The company was founded in 1983 in Worthing, West Sussex on the south coast of England.[1] It started as a specialised, small company providing thermometers to the catering industry. ETI was one of the first UK companies to develop a range of digital thermometers specifically designed for food, manufacturing and many other industries.[citation needed] The company has been privately owned since inception.[2] Today,[when?] Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd has two factories (40,000 sq. ft.) and over 50 distributors around the world.[citation needed] The United States is ETI's largest export market.[citation needed]
ETI has been granted The Queen's Award for Industry for International Trade three times: in 2012,[3] 2014,[4] and 2017.[5]
Impact and scope
Electronic Temperature Instruments Ltd is the UK's largest digital thermometer and temperature probe manufacturer.[citation needed]
As of April 2017, the Worthing factory is accredited for a number of equipment calibration activities.[6]
