Elvis Abuyere (born 17 August 1985), is a Nigerian businessman and entrepreneur. He is the founder of Skyewise Group. He was named the 2021 SME CEO of the Year by Business Day Newspaper.[1][2][3]
Early life and education
[edit]Abuyere attended Army Day Secondary School, Edo State where he completed his senior secondary in 2002. He is a graduate of Accounting from Dorben Polytechnic, Abuja with HND he received in 2009.[4][5]
He did his Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration at National Open University in 2011. Abuyere received a management certificate from the Lagos Business School in 2020 and holds a PhD in Banking and Business Management from Escae University, which he got in 2021.[6]
Career
[edit]Before founding Skyewise Group, Abuyere worked with the defunct Skye Bank in 2007 and for First Bank Nigeria in 2010. He spent eight years working for the two banks and left to work as an Uber driver, before setting-up his own company Skyewise Group in 2015. He is the author of "Run with the Challenges of Life" and a member of the Chartered Institute of Leaders and Governance.[4]
Skyewise Group
[edit]Founded in 2013 as Skyewise Travels and Tours, Skyewise Group has expanded since 2020 and is the umbrella for Skyewise Travels and Tours, Skyewise Cooperative Finance, Skyewise Automobile, Skyewise Global Investment Services and Skyewise Foundation. The company is valued at $10million as of 2024.[7][8][9][10][11]
Meet The CEOs Summit
[edit]Abuyere, through his company Skyewise Group, also organizes the annual Meet The CEOs Summit with the 2023 edition the 3rd in its series. For the 2023 edition, Regina Daniels Nwoko, Adaora Onyechere, Eddie Madaki, Juliet Ibrahim, Olumide Emmanuel, etc, were all in attendance.[12][13]
Philanthropy
[edit]The Skyewise Foundation has empowered more than 1,000 persons and has donated to the less privileged, FCT Police Command and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC). The foundation also runs an annual back-to-school programme where they donate educational materials, including books, school bags and other items, to aid the education of the children.[14][15][16][17][18][19]
Controversy
[edit]In a video that went viral on social media in August 2024, Nigerian actress Tonto Dikeh was seen having heated arguments with properties destroyed at the Abuja branch of the Skyewise Group. Abuyere displeased with the incident wrote a petition to the Nigerian Police and Tonto Dikeh and her bodyguard were invited for questioning for alleged assault. The issue was in relation to unresolved car transactions.[20][21][22][23][24]

Personal life
[edit]Abuyere was born to James Abuyere in Ikorodu, Lagos State. He is from Agenebode, Etsako East, Edo State, Nigeria. He is married to Lilian Brown since 2019 and they have two daughters together.[6]
