Emulate is a startup company focused on the commercialization of the Organ on a chip - a tissue-based technology that replicates human organ-level function that is used to model organs in healthy and diseased states. The platform has applications in pharmaceutical research and development, testing how different chemicals and foods affect human health, and personalized therapy.[1] The company was spun out from the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University, where the technology was initially invented and then extensively developed. Donald Ingber founded the company around 2013.[1] James Coon is a co-founder and been the CEO since the company was incorporated. Geraldine Hamilton is the company's President and Chief Science Officer since late 2014.[1]
