Born in Gradačac, Huseinbašić started his career at the lower-tier FK Bosna Mionica, before moving, aged 12, to the bigger NK Zvijezda Gradačac. As the U17 team and league top scorer,[1] he got his chance to debut, aged 16, in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

In the summer of 2010, however, he moved to the second-tier OFK Gradina, becoming a regular in the first team. His performance in the first half of the 2011/2012 season, becoming the top scorer at the halfway point with 11 goals from the first 15 rounds, he went on trial with the Belgian side Gent. Having satisfied the coaches and having passed the medical exam, he nevertheless failed the fitness exam and wasn't signed.[2]

Gradina qualified for the Premijer Liga, however, and after the first half of the season there, he moved to FK Sarajevo, the team he, according to his words, he rooted for.[3] After a year in Sarajevo, he rescinded his contract and moved to FK Sloboda Tuzla[4] and, the following summer, to the Croatian Prva HNL team NK Istra 1961,[5] making his debut in the 28.7.2014 1-1 away draw with RNK Split.[6]
