Even is a Norwegian given name coming from Old Norse Eivindr (existing as Eivindur in Iceland). Another common name derived from Old Norse Eivindr is the Norwegianized Eivind. Eivind, and variants such as Øyvind, are products of the "name renaissance" in Norway, where in the 1800s Old Norse names were plucked from historical sources and given a Norwegianized spelling, cf. Sigurd from Old Norse Sigurðr.[1]
