Cast

[edit]

The original cast members include five boys; Charlie Hannam, George Bebbington, Grant Urquhart, Junior Raji, and Ollie Large, and five girls; Charlotte Howden, Chloe Adams, Deborah Famodun, Emily Hopkins, and Nadia Pointing.

All original cast members arrived at the beach during the first episode and were immediately told to prepare for the arrival of their exes. Alessandro was the first ex to arrive on the beach, as the ex-partner of George. The episode also featured the arrival of Emily's ex-boyfriend, Wendale De Jesus. The second episode included the arrival of Grant's ex-girlfriend, Nadia Zarine. The third episode featured the arrival of Ozan Ozturk, Nadia Pointing's ex-boyfriend. The fourth episode included the arrival of Liam Redmond, the ex-partner of Oliver Large. Following Liam's arrival, all five ex-couples (Alessandro & George, Emily & Wendale, Grant & Nadia Z., Nadia P. & Ozzie, and Liam & Ollie) were sent to The One That Got Away Getaway for the fourth and fifth episodes.

The fifth episode featured the surprise introduction of Jay Munro, who was not an ex-partner of any current cast member. Additionally, Alessandro & George were sent home in the same episode by the remaining cast members who were not sent to the Getaway. The Sixth episode saw the arrival of two of Charlie's ex-partners, Natasha Daisy & Theadora Thompson, and also saw the elimination of Deborah, Emily and Wendale due to not being in active relationships, despite that being the point of the show. The seventh episode featured the arrival of Chloe's ex-partner, Abbey Myers. The eighth episode featured the double-arrival of Alexis Bailey, Jay's ex-girlfriend, and Terique Henry, Charlotte's ex-boyfriend. Abbey and Thea were also sent home in the eighth episode. The ninth episode featured the final arrival of Jessie-Mae Begg, Charlie's ex-girlfriend, as well as the elimination of Junior.

Controversy

[edit]

This series faced minor controversy on social media sites, as fans complained about the departure of cast member George Bebbington, claiming the series was boring without him with some claiming it was a "fix" he was sent home early.[2]

Despite his early exit from the show, George was recognized in Liverpool Echo's official 2023 Rainbow List, celebrating LGBTQ+ figures from Liverpool. George was featured for not conforming to LGBTQ+ stereotypes and showcasing there is more than one way to be gay.[3]
